Programmes like Creativity in Project demonstrations, Personality Development, Career Development and Counseling are arranged by inviting eminent resource persons every year.

The faculty members are encouraged to become the members of various professional bodies, to apply project proposal to various funding agencies such UGC, AICTE, ISTE, DBT, DRCO, DST, NBHM, DAE and also to organise National and International level technical seminars, workshops and conferences.

Since 2008, the department has been conducting one day Innovative Project Exposition for the first year students on Science Day every year with the support of DST, GOI, New Delhi, ISTE, etc.

A “PROJECT DISPLAY CONTEST ON INNOVATIVE IDEAS (Smart Innovation for a Sustainable Future)-PRELIMS” was organized by the Department of Science and Humanities of R.M.D Engineering College for all first-year students on 14.2.25 and 15.2.25. Nearly 683 students have participated. There were about 169 teams participated for the Prelims. Internal Jury members selected 29 teams for finals. The Finale ‘Project Expo 2025 (Smart Innovation for a Sustainable Future)’ was conducted on 10.3.2025. Ms. V. Uma, Scientist "F" CVRDE DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Avadi, Chennai was invited as the Chief guest. Our Management extended a magnanimous Financial Support for the teams selected for Finale, i.e. 23 Hardware teams received Financial Support of Rs.2,44,222. This support enabled the students to enhance their project works and participate not only the Finale but also win several Prizes outside our college.

In the academic year 2018-19, The competition ‘SCIENCE DAY – AN INNOVATION GALLERY’ sponsored by ISTE – Chennai. The final level competition was held on 16-03-2019 and was judged by Dr. Selvakumar, Scientist F, ISRO, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh was invited as Chief Guests.

In the academic year 2017-18, Dr. S.Srinivasa Roa Scientist, additional Director,CVRDE,DRDO Chennai was invited as the chief guest and awarded the five projects for the year 2018 project expo during the science day- Innovation Gallery.

In the academic year 2016-17, a senior principal scientist Dr. P. Shanmugam from CLRI, Adyar, Chennai and in the academic year 2016-17, Dr.S.Ganesamoorthy, Senior officer F,Material Science Group, IGCAR,Kalpakkam were invited as Chief Guests.
